1.4 Purchase Information
Stumbl Meetups is currently free to use. If we introduce in-app purchases or subscriptions in the future, payments will be processed by Apple through the App Store. We will not collect or store your payment card details. We would receive only a transaction confirmation from Apple (product purchased, transaction date, and subscription status) to provide purchased features.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to provide, improve, and support the App:
- Authentication: Your phone number verifies your identity and secures your account via SMS verification code.
- Core features: Your display name, profile photo, location, and family members are shared with your confirmed friends to enable check-ins and meetup coordination.
- Notifications: We use your location and push notification token to send you relevant alerts about nearby friend activity, respecting your notification radius and Do Not Disturb settings.
- Events: We use your location to show nearby family-friendly events and your family member ages to suggest age-appropriate activities.
- Friend discovery: When you choose to find friends, we match phone numbers from your contacts against existing users. We do not store your full contact list on our servers.
- Improving the App: Feedback submissions (including device metadata), crash reports, and aggregated analytics help us fix bugs and prioritize features.
- Communications: We may send you service-related messages (e.g., account security, feature updates, policy changes).
3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in these limited ways:
- With your friends: Your display name, profile photo, check-in location, activity notes, and family members attending are visible to users you have mutually added as friends. You control your sharing audience and can share check-ins with all friends or selected friend groups.
- Service providers: We use third-party services to operate the App (see Section 9). These providers process data on our behalf under their own privacy policies.
- Business transfers: If Stumbl Meetups is acquired, merged, or sells assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change and any choices you may have regarding your data.
- Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Stumbl Meetups, our users, or the public.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share personal information with advertisers. We do not track you across other apps or websites.
4. Children’s Privacy
Stumbl Meetups is designed for parents and guardians aged 18 and older. Children do not have their own accounts or profiles. The App does not allow children under 18 to create accounts. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13.
Family member information (children’s first names and ages) is provided voluntarily by the parent or guardian and is stored as metadata on the parent’s profile. This information is only visible to that user’s confirmed friends. Children do not interact with the App directly and have no access to it.
If you believe a child under 13 has created an account or that we have inadvertently collected information from a child, please contact us immediately at contactstumblapp@gmail.com and we will promptly delete it.
5. Data Retention
- Account data (profile, profile photo, friends, favorite locations, family members) is retained for as long as your account is active.
- Check-ins are automatically removed from the feed after they expire (based on the duration you set). Open-ended check-ins remain until you end them.
- Location data is updated periodically when significant movement is detected (approximately 500 meters). The previous value is overwritten each time. We do not maintain a location history.
- Feedback is retained to help us improve the App and may be kept after account deletion in anonymized form.
- Crash reports and analytics are retained by Firebase according to Google’s standard retention policies.
- Aggregated data may be retained indefinitely in anonymized form that cannot identify individual users.
When you delete your account, we delete your profile, profile photo, friends, check-ins, favorite locations, feedback, friend requests, and pending invites from our servers. This deletion is permanent.
6. Data Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information:
- All data in transit is encrypted using TLS (Transport Layer Security).
- All data at rest is encrypted using Google Firebase’s built-in encryption.
- Profile photos are stored in Firebase Cloud Storage with access controlled by authenticated URLs.
- Access to your data is restricted by server-side Firestore security rules that enforce per-user authorization.
- Push notification tokens are only accessible to the account owner.
- Phone number authentication uses industry-standard SMS verification with rate limiting to prevent abuse.
No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Your Rights and Choices
You have the following rights regarding your data:
- Access: View your profile, friends, favorite locations, and check-in history within the App.
- Correction: Update your display name, profile photo, family members, and favorite locations at any time.
- Deletion: Delete your account and all associated data from the Profile tab in the App. This action is permanent and removes your profile, profile photo, friends, check-ins, favorite locations, feedback, friend requests, and pending invites from our servers. You may also request deletion by contacting us at contactstumblapp@gmail.com.
- Withdraw consent: Revoke location, contacts, or notification permissions at any time through your device Settings. Some features may not work without certain permissions.
- Notification controls: Adjust your notification radius (2, 5, or 10 miles), enable Do Not Disturb mode, or mute individual friends from within the App.
7.1 For California Residents (CCPA/CPRA)
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act and the California Privacy Rights Act, California residents have the following rights:
- Right to know: You may request information about the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you, the categories of sources, the business purposes for collection, and the categories of third parties with whom we share it.
- Right to delete: You may request deletion of your personal information. You can do this directly in the App (Profile tab) or by contacting us.
- Right to correct: You may request correction of inaccurate personal information.
- Right to non-discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.
- No sale or sharing: We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
To exercise your rights, use the in-app account deletion feature or contact us at contactstumblapp@gmail.com. We will verify your identity before processing requests.
7.2 For European Residents (GDPR)
If you are in the European Economic Area, our legal basis for processing your data is your consent (which you may withdraw at any time) and our legitimate interest in providing the App’s services. You have the right to access, rectify, port, and erase your data, and to object to or restrict processing. Contact us at contactstumblapp@gmail.com to exercise these rights.
8. Location Data—Additional Detail
Because location is central to how Stumbl Meetups works, we want to be especially transparent about it:
- Check-in location: When you create a check-in, your precise location (latitude and longitude) is stored with the check-in and shared with your friends (or selected friend groups) for the duration of that check-in.
- Background location: If you grant “Always” location permission, the App uses iOS significant-change monitoring to periodically update your approximate location. This is used solely to calculate whether friend check-ins are within your notification radius. Your background location is not shared with other users and is not visible to friends. Only one location value is stored at a time—we do not build a location history.
- Arrival and departure detection: When you have an active check-in, the App monitors your distance from the check-in location to detect when you arrive or leave, so it can prompt you to update your status. This data is processed on-device and is not stored or shared.
- No location tracking without consent: All location features require your explicit permission. You can disable location access at any time in your device Settings. The App remains usable without location permissions, though check-in and notification features will be limited.
9. Third-Party Services
The App uses the following third-party services. Each processes data under its own privacy policy:
| Service | Provider | Purpose | Privacy Policy |
|---|---|---|---|
| Firebase Authentication | Phone number verification and account management | Link | |
| Cloud Firestore | User profiles, check-ins, friends, and other App data storage | Link | |

| Firebase Crashlytics | Crash reporting and stability monitoring | Link | |

All Firebase services are provided by Google LLC and process data in accordance with Google’s data processing terms. Firebase data is stored in the United States.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you through the App or by updating the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. If you disagree with the changes, please stop using the App and delete your account.
